Am planning a PCT through hike. Dont know what direction the majority of hikers go? nobo or sobo?
what are the pros and cons for each?

The majority travel south to north and begin sometime in the spring.
Weather really is the deciding factor.Snow will make some areas rather difficult to get through or down right impossible.
Heat in the Southern California desert can be extreme with little to no water and no shade.

Most go Nobo. The “window” for Nobo is roughly end of April through the first of October. Sobo “window” is more like June through October. Totally depends on the snow pack from the previous winter. Unless you’re a really fast hiker (min. 20 mile days) go Nobo.
