Northbound from Sunflower

Last year, April 18-May 30, covered Mexico to Sunflower. Tentative plan to return to Sunflower April 7thish and continue north. Also thinking of heading out of Picket Post TH and redoing the Superstitions and 4 Peaks.

We hiked the Sunflower to City Creek sections in December07. That hike was the source of the warnings on Passage #23 on the AZTA website. We have been out doing trail work since and it will be 1000% better by the time you get there–still challenging but hikeable. I am starting north from Mexico on March 23 or thereabouts. Have fun and stay safe. Tenzing

We have now spent 13 person days in March clearing deadfall and brushing trail in and on the Divide Trail. The trail conditions are now greatly improved, except for approx. a 3 mile piece south of Bear Springs. That stretch (about 5 miles north of Mt. Peeley) has been too snowy to access. Check the AZTA website for trail status update in the next few days.

Thanks for all of the hard work! I was very concerned about that section from all of the stories over the past few years. This is great news for all AZT hikers this year.

Tenzing - Thanks for your efforts. Just curious as to whether this is a supported/official effort or if you simply enjoy opening up trail for public benefit? Either way, I wonder whether you’d be available to help clear trail along the Grand Enchantment route in Arizona. Feel free either to ignore this post or else willingly submit! That goes for anyone reading this, actually…
