November Hike Ga to Tn

Curious if it is normal to hike the trail from Ga to Tn the first two weeks of November. I'd like to begin hiking the trail as soon as possible and from what I've read in journals this leg of 164 miles typically takes two weeks. My major concerns would center around weather related aspects such as temp, rain or snow. I would assume also thatit would be quite deserted.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The this stretch of trail is never deserted. You'll find plenty of people on the trail. Nov is one of my fav months for hiking this stretch. Hope you have a great trip!

You may have very cold, very wet stretches of weather, though odds are you'll get plenty of cool/dry weather too.

Last year, we were at Clingman’s Dome on October 1. The wind was blowing 40 mph, the temperature was about 30, and ice and snow covered everything.

But I’ve also backpacked the Yellow Creek Stretch (south of Fontana Dam) in mid November in shorts and short sleeves.

So, I take it that hiking this stretch of AT isn't unusual. I just need to be prepared for inclement weather and bring both warm weather and COOOOOLD weather clothes.

After summitting K & working on the pumpkin farm near Kent for a month; I cycled south & caught up to the Southbounders at Rusty's on the BRP.... I had some minor snow that made it hard to cycle on thanksgiving, but would not be a problem for a hiker. go for it fo sho !
