November in Georgia

My job prohibits me from completing a traditional thru hike. As a teacher, I manage to get 2 months off in the summer, and a week each in the spring and fall. I would like to make the entire trip in two years (around 5 months total),

My question is this: I was thinking of hiking the first 50 or so miles from Springer over the Thanksgiving holidays. What kind of weather can I expect in that area of North Georgia in late November?

Crisp and highly pleasant hiking weather during the day. Crisp and can be very cold during the night. Pack warm sleeping accessories and you will have a very enjoyable trip.

Cheers,

Thanks for the initial info, Lauren.

I was wondering about rainfall during the Fall months as well. Also, how many hikers during that time of year can I expect?

November is wonderful in north Georgia. My second thru-hike, I left November 11 from Springer. It was a warm year, but go with Lauren’s advice about the weather. Not too rainy either, probably. But you never know. Be prepared. I didn’t see many hikers at all. You might go a day or two without seeing anyone.

Thanks for all the info. The amount of rainfall is my biggest concern; I can cope with the cold fairly well. Should be plenty of good views along the way in late November.
