I am thinking about hiking the LT from s to N starting around the 15 of October and finsihing the first or second week of November. Is this to late to finsih due to weather? Will there be a lot of ice by then? Thanks ahead of time.

It’s not too late but you will have below freezing nights and some snow. Just pack accordingly.

Also some rain, some sun (no leaves = some sunburn), some indian summer, some early winter, some wind and a tad of the rest. Sound like fun to me (but I’ve been called a masocist).

You can expect an ass kicken good time. the weather could get real nasty, but there will be plenty of good times. get some better maps than are in the trail book and a gps for the exposed areas and you should be fine, also look for low routes and side trail to get you out of snow if its the case.
Your worst case is rain, lots of cold cold rain.
Best thing, you’ll be the only one out there. peace in the green mountains:D

Being prepared for bad weather above treeline is a great idea. Mt Mansfield offers a few miles of above the forest trekking, the most in VT, Camels Hump’s summit is also very exposed but much smaller in area than Mansfield. Monitor the weather as much as you can and if necessary delay traversing these peaks until you have good weather.
