'O4 Thruhiker Report/Weather

I got an e-mail from '03 SOBO Stumpknocker, and he asked me to post this info:

""We made it to Hiawassee, NC and are
checked into the Mull’s motel. Hippie’s knee is still pretty bad so we are not making big
miles. The trail has been like a winter wonderland. Today is the first day that I can remember it getting above freezing, and it is really bothering Hippie. She gets really cold while I am enjoying the
nice weather…it pisses her off. ha
ha. Could you put in a note on Trail journals and let them know that as far as Hiawassee there are only 21 NOBOs so far still on the trail. That might interest some of the readers. Thanks. DANIEL’S AYCE STEAKHOUSE
TONIGHT!!! "

…and your point?

It is Mount Mitchell which is not on the trail but shows what to expect at the higher elevations.

Hiawassee is in The Great State of Georgia…hypothermia setting in?

I read Hippie’s latest journal entry earlier and she sounds like a tough cookie. I’m hoping her knee gets better quick.

Is Stumpknocker heading NOBO again? Did he finish his SOBO on New Year’s? Perhaps I should better write him to ask this stuff…

Jan–
got the forward started by Lucky… any more word on a reunion at Traildays?

Stumpknocker (NOBO '02, finishing SOBO of '03)touched the last white blaze at Springer Mountain yesterday, and walked down the approach trail this morning to Amicalola and food.

He said that he had passed 55 northbounders, including old friends Drifter of '02, and Mickey One-Sock, attempting his third thru-hike. No snow since well before (north of) Neel’s Gap.

Tang, that '03 reuinion at Trail days is a must-do. We just have to designate a time and place, and spread the word. Help me do it, send me a mail.
