Quick question about the guide book

I went to order “The Official Guidebook of The Colorado Trail Foundation” listed on coloradotrail.org by calling the number and they told me they aren’t selling it right now because it is being revised. The new version she told me will be out late summer (which does me no good because I am starting early July). I did order the current databook.

My question:
Is the version of the guidebook available on Amazon.com still pretty accurate?

thanks!

The version currently available will be fine for the CT. The CT is pretty well marked.

There are two major reroutes (Clear Creek and Cataract Ridge) vs the current guide book that you should check though

The reroutes are in the bottom right hand corner.

Finally, I find that databook and maps to be more useful than the guidebook. YMMV.

Mags, thanks for the great response!

Yes, the 7th Edition REVISED (not to be confused with the current 7th Edition) is due out in late summer, although the exact date is still a moving target due to variances in editing, printing and transport times. We were hoping for an earlier date and realize that the timing of this is inconvenient for those planning CT trips this year. In order to minimize the inconvenience, we have the maps and reroute info on our website (as Mags stated) to supplement the 7th Edition Guidebook.

Please note the CT Store has sold out of the the 7th Edition, but it is available on many on-line sites. As of 5/9 amazon has 4 copies.

The 3rd Edition Databook is still available and useful. Please refer to www.coloradotrail.org for the reroute updates to supplement this, as well.

Please feel free to contact us at the office - 303-384-3729 or ctf@coloradotrail.org - if you have any questions about the Guidebooks, Databoook or reroutes.
