Question: What did most of you do upon finishing your thruhike? I’m curious…
Matthew
I just mailed off a lot of postcards yesterday. A friend of mine did up a real nice picture of me on Katahdin. I mailed them out to my friends from the trail, but more importantly they were sent to just about every hitch that picked me up, some hostel owners, or anyone that helped me out a long way. I figure that if some of these people are willing to pick up a dirty smelly hiker like myself for no charge then it is the least I can do. And I hope they are even more inclined now to repeat it.

H. I got thru Jan on 100 bucks and prayer. I believe that 200 bucks is a fair number, my plan is to run between 200 and 300 a month. For six months thats 1200-1800 for the trip. I am committed to this budget NO MATTER WHAT. This will allow some hosteling and showers. I have not found vegitarianism to be as challenging as I thought. I have been using peanut butter for fats and have been eating some cheese and milk plus the stuff Brother Bushwhack sent.
With a carefully orchestrated group of support folks (I have had some boxes sent) this could be used as a minimum budget. Also Hiker Boxes will probably have more in them when you come through, but it is slim pickins for the vegitarians.
Got the box.

Congrats on the smokey run. Have Rocket give the old Rocket a call…we are anxious to hear from him. I also wanted to tell you I enjoyed the rock story he wrote about…is that why you call him ROCK-it?
