On the trail again

Hi all,
I left the UT border last Friday and arrived at South Rim after a rim to rim on Wednesday. Arrived in freezing rains but beat the snow that arrived that night and into Thursday. It’s clearing and I’m heading for Flagstaff and a finish in Mormon Lake to which I hiked from Mexico in the spring. We’ll see how the weather holds. I’ll update my journal on trailjournals.com

Arrived in Flagstaff today after hiking from Grand Canyon South. Great views of and hike around the peaks.

Finished passage 30 last night and thereby completed my thru hike interrupted. I hiked MX to Mormon Lake from 3/20/08 to 4/25/08 and hiked UT to Mormon Lake from 11/21/08 to 12/07/08. Fantastic hike and trail. Highlights from the last couple weeks include lots of elk, teens and 9 degree nights, N rim to S rim hike, 2 day snowstorm at south rim. When I got to N rim, they said you better get out of here. They closed the N rim road the day after I came through so I may be last rim to rim hiker of 08.

Congrats on finishing! I bet it was beautiful near Flag after the snowstorms.

thanks no hurry… I am waiting to see how the winter is down there before I come up with a date. I hear it is pretty much all about the water so will as light as I can without replacing TOO much of my gear… haha.

No Hurry–way to go. I talked to Kyle recently and we were wondering what happened to you after Mormon Lake. Glad you got to complete the AZT. in 2008. That makes 14 thru-hikers by my count. I will catch up on your trailjournals entries. Tenzing Terry, AZT 08

Thanks Tenzing, it was an awesome hike. Enjoyed meeting you, ranger and dave on the trail. Still trying to finish up my journal, mostly the picture part. BTW, I may be some kind of trail masochist but I really enjoyed the unfinished parts too, those are the areas where I felt most in touch with hiking AZ.
