The B&B Complex fires in central Oregon, which disrupted the continuous hiking line of many of this year’s PCT class, have been officially delared to have been caused by lightning.
There has been much speculation that the fires were deliberately set in advance of President Bush’s visit to the area. Acording to the following press release, the newly-issued arson investigation report says that the fires were started by lightning in storms that passed through the area during Aug 4-7. The fires smouldered until reported on Aug 19.
