i’m looking for feedback on the osprey aetha packs
boom boom
its a pack.
its 70 litres (big for an AT hike).
its made by osprey, mass manufactured in china.
it comes in funky colours.
if you are looking for a pack to hike the AT with, pretty much any pack will do. internal, external, 1lb, 2lb, 4lb, 6lbs…
packs are all run of the mill.
you should be more concerned by what colour kilt to choose!!

Bloody Cactus
Osprey makes a very good pack. They are lighter than many internal frame packs of the comparable size, yet sturdy enough to carry the load very well.
I’d highly recommend considering them.

I have an Osprey Aether and it’s not made in China! It’s made in Vietnam. C’mon skillz…there’s a huge difference. Ok well maybe not…maybe it’s like the difference between a regular slim jim and a tabasco slim jim. Or maybe like the difference between spinach and canned spinach. Or maybe there’s no difference at all. I dunno…nevermind. BUT ANYWAYS… It’s a great pack. I have the Aether 75 which was last year’s model and it’s got the bottom compartment which is great for packing the tent. I noticed with the new Aether designs that only the 85 has this bottom compartment…at least from what I could tell in the pictures. I’d recommend picking up a pack with this feature even if it’s a bit larger than what you want. You can always fill the extra space with something light like a pillow if you have that OCD condition about needing to use up all space available. I think I have that. But YES Osprey rocks a horse’s nose hairs. Oh, I also recommend getting a Bio-Form hipbelt with your pack. Typically the BioForm belts come on the Crecest series, but you can easily put one on an Aether which is what I did. Make sure you have an authorized dealer mold it for you. If you’re thinkin of lookin at companies other than Osprey, you might want to look at Arc’Teryx as well. That Cactus guy is probably right than most anything will do IF you are one of these super healthy guys that’s never had back problems. My back sucks though so selection is definitely important…especially on long hauls.
