I'm interested in comments from anyone who has used the Osprey Aether 60 on a thru hike. Thanks.

I carried an Aether 60 from Damascus, VA to Hannover, NH during my '07 NOBO thru. I met 2 others who carried a 60 then entire trip. I found my 60 a bit too small for the extra gear needed during colder weather in GA/NC, and for some NH/ME sections where I carried 5-7 days of food. So, I carried an Aether 70 out of Hanover and it was just right. The 70 weighed 9 oz. more than my 60, so was a relatively small weight penalty for the extra cargo space. All in all, both were very comfortable and carried well. Best of all, they wore well and had only a few minor repairs needed when I got home, which Osprey did for FREE! Got to love a company that stands behind their gear! They are still my go-to packs when I head for the woods. IMHO, either is a quality, functional choice that will get you where you want to go, for many miles to come.

I have been hiking and mapping the CDT with my Aether 60 and will use it again this year to finish the last 800 miles. Longest hitch with it so far has been 122 miles over seven days (Bob Marshall) and it worked fine for that. We carry a lot of work gear in addition to the usual stuff and it is sufficiently large enough. I tend to fill up whatever I have so the way for me to save weight is to stay small.
I downsized from a larger Osprey but used the harness from the bigger pack. It is very comfortable.

Many thanks to all of you for your comments on the Aether 60. This pack looked great on paper, and all the online reviews were very positive, but there's nothing like feedback from actual users. Thanks again!
