maddron bald (and the albright cove loop with its giant trees) is a favorite of mine and paw-ee’s…(i think backpacker magazine rated maddron bald as one of their best hikes)…but a great shelter stay is icewater springs (and charlie’s bunion nearby is a literal GARDEN which includes one of my favorite, rarely seen plants: sand myrtle!)…you almost can’t go wrong anywhere in the smokies!
