Does anyone know of any campsites about halfway between Peters Mountain Shelter and Rausch Gap Shelter, especially ones near the intersection of PA Rt 325 and the AT (along Peters Mountain PA). None show on the ATC map Thanks in advance!

There are some places after you climb the mountain going from 325 towards Rausch Gap, near the junction with the Horseshoe Trail. I would guess @ 3 miles from 325. Further along, you can camp at Yellow Springs, which is about 7 miles from 325.

Jim, at the Horseshoe trail junction, where is the nearest water if you know. Is it rattling run and is there a campsite there? In 2 weeks I am going with my nephews boy scout troop in this area for a week (4 adults- 5 scouts). We are looking for a spot around route 325 also for 4 tents. Is there anything close to 325? Thanks for any info you can give us!

Skyrider, it’s been a few years but I seem to remember seeing some useable sites just across the stream on the “north” side of 325. I usually don’t like to camp that close to road crossings so never explored it that much, but I’m fairly certain there was something useable there. Is it just for your one tent, or will there be multiples? It is always easier to find someplace to throw down if you’re just looking for a solo site.
