i’m wondering if it would be realistic to carry a 3700 cu. in. pack for a thur-hike in june? I talked to a guy from osprey and he seemed to think it was but when i takled to someone at the store they didn’t seem to think so. the other pack i’m looking at is 4300cu. in. i am planning on bringing a tent and my gear isn’t going to be super lite but i want it to be as lite as possible. this is my first long distance hike but i don’t plan on bringing everything i own either. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx.

First of all what trail are you doing and how many stops are you thinking about doing to get food. Which pack also is imporant. I think they both will be ok. I would say take all your gear with you to the store and then see which pack fits the stuff better. I have i just got a P 2 by ula it is big but light so i dont mind it. i did some winter backpacking it was big enough for me without the Collar. There are a lot of ways to skin the cat. hope this helps.

i’m going to be doing the LT and am looking at 4 or 5 stops for food. the packs that i was looking at right now are the luna 70 and 60. i was going over them both and wasn’t sure if the packs themselves were a bit heavy. the 70 is 6 lb 10 oz & the 60 is 6lb 4oz.

i would say those are to heavy for hike the lt in summer try and at these stay under 5 lb 3 is better ckeck out ula or aether 60 or grainte gear. as long as you try to cut wieght there is no reson that the Ariel 60 would not work. try and keep the big three under 10 pounds and you are good to go. that is my two cents.

hey, thank you. i was going back over the packs and you helped alot. i kinda had thought the aether or arial would be more of what i was looking for. i’m new to this as you can tell so i really appreciate your 2 cents. i wish they could have been as helpful at the store i went to.
