You are off to a good start. I would only carry 2 pairs of socks. I don’t think you need an extra mouth piece. What is vit 1? You might want an extra Gatorade bottle. I would not hike with more than a quart, but sometimes in camp you need to hold more water. Some kind of wind/rain jacket and a little weight fleeces or down vest would be a good idea.

I think you are off to a great start there are some ideas on what to think about. You know what works best and after about 500 miles you can figure out what you really need any ways.

Have fun

…for when you are long dead, and certain people didn’t know what to make of you until after you have moved on they discover this pad, or notebook, that explained a great big part of your life, and they go, “Oh…”…I’d leave the DEET, but bring a Q-tip…

I section hiked Georgia last October.

  1. Thru Hiker Handbook - make copies of Georgia pages
  2. Pants and Under Armor Pants? I would go with the lighter one. Weather should be nice. Mornings might be cool, but after a few minutes of hiking shorts are fine.
  3. 3 pairs of socks should be more than sufficient (at Neel’s Gap you can do laundry).
  4. Deet - carried but never used, should be small bottle
  5. Water Purifier, if you mean tablets those are good. Carried a water filter plus tablets but never treated any water. About 50% of hikers I met did the same thing.
  6. With a hat, sunglasses are not necessary. Most of trail is shady, for me sunglasses made things too dark. Lots of rocks, may stumble with sunglasses.

Sorry for the two entries above. The word processing system has confounded me. Please delete both entries.

i would create something of a bounce box and use this to keep my pack weight down, packing only especailly what i needed and nothing else. THen in the bounce box you can have extra personal hyigene stuff, warmer or lighter clothing, kinfe, etc.food boxes also, you can mail it to yourself, the first time, and then keep forwarding it to other post offices from there.
I would carry maybe a copy wingfoot photocopies (lighter than the book) and maybe the same with the companion… or bounce one and use it if i find i really need it or switch…
what i would carry with me if i was going to hike then and there, would be pack (ULA P1) western mt. down sleeping bag, foam pad (its lighter than the thermarest if you can do with out the mattress idea… you never know where you could find a bed of pine needles, and sleep on that! i would bring a tent of sorts, but make sure your getting what you want in a tent, its a heavy thing when packing and i use a tarp sometimes… when its nice enough … i carry an alcohal stove which burns denatured alcohal and is very light, and easy to find fuel for any hard ware store. or light enough to just carry enough for a week or two.
i would wear one of the two longsleeve shirts i would bring, maybe long johns and some shorts, winter hat? for sleeping? sweater if its cold, rain jacket of some sort as light as can be… pens pencils paper are good, and maybe some water colors…matches are light and easy to throw in the pack, defanitly i would use like some big plastic bottles for water easier to fill and maybe gloves you could either bring or bounce ahead, water purification, theres many ways just maybe pick the one thats best for you, i use aqua mira, its pretty light and usually dont purify my water maybe a small blade to cut cheese or whittle with but i dont think i would be needing a heavy big knife for anything out there… and maybe small bit of rope tooth brush etc… well i hope you have fun and have really nice weather on you r trip!
