How do you express yourself, with regards to fondness for the trail? Through painting pictures, writing songs or perhaps poems,or simply taking a walk? Here's a song Iv'e been working on. Not goin to get somewhere, not goin to get away. Not a callin that's been callin me,or a roll I had to play. It's just a trail that's deep in the wood's,and happens to be on my way. I'll dream of you each night my love,In the shelter where I lay. Chourus Don't be sad my honey, and don't be blue, cause for long I'll be roll'in on that trail that leeds back to you

I like it. Not sure I can dance to it, unless it becomes a waltz, but well done. John Denver could have done well with it.

For me, I love to draw and write trail entries about the texture of the trail. The whimsical side of trail life is often what I gravitate toward, but the splendor of getting out there and those hard-earn moments of grandeur are also common for me. I want to inspire others to hike the trail through entertainment and humor in my drawings and writing - I feel the more who can experience trail life the more balanced, tolerant people we’ll have and the fewer drama Kings & Queens who freak out if they can’t find their jeans in the right size. Lightning striking over your head on a summit tends to put things in proper perspective, don’t you think? Understanding the difference between need and want, that we’re more similar than different…we all flinch in unison when that bolt of lightning CRACKS! The vitriol in our rhetoric has gotten crazy - we don’t treat each other that way out on the trail. If you can find joy in several days of living in rain, chances are you can find joy in a normal world day of sunshine.

Hope some talented musician can put a nice melody on those lyrics. Good job.

Postcard, thank you for the kind words.I miss John Denver he was a good soul,Im sure.I suppose I could toss this song to my son for melody....but it would turn out to be a death metal tune.Personaly I think it sould be played in gear 'C'.Ya know I gotta say it again...your book rocks it.I mean so much so ,that one of these days I'm gonna actuly break down and buy it instead of rip'in you off each time I go to your book marked site for a peek and color study. For about a year now I have been dabling with plein air in oils...what fun. Most interested in capturing "the Atmosphere" through aireal perspective.I like Kevin Macpherson's book "Reflections on the pond"where he paints a picture of the same pond, each day for a year...thats comitment kinda like thru-hikin.Also Thomas and Cole's work at the famed "Hudson river school of art",just to name a few.OK so..because I was mused by your lightning CRACKS I'll cut you in for a fifty share. When the lightning strikes ,those that seek, find absolution......through their feet?

At times I find it lonely.but always am content. Can't think of a better way of how my time is spent. It's you that I am longing for no other would do.Bless your heart my honey,I'm com'in back to you.Chorus In the shelter where I lay In the shelter where I stay I'll dream of you my honey In the shelter where I lay.

Some come for riches and some come to play. Some come to find them selves while others come to stay. It's rain'in now and the sun don't shine,my thoughts are all for you,and how one day I'll stray this way,on the trail that leeds to you.chorus; In the shelter where I lay in the shelter where I stay,I'll dream of you my each night my love in the shelter where I lay.
