Park car near Daleville

Does anybody know where I could park my car near US220 at Daleville, VA? I’ll probably be hiking around the first week of May and be out for 2 or 2 1/2 weeks (NOBO). Also, any ideas on how to get back to my car after that? I should be somewhere inside SNP by then. Thanks.

The Econo Lodge on US 220 just west of US 81 will let you leave your vehicle there, just register it with them. You will be about a tenth of a mile from where the AT crosses US 220.

BTW, there’s a great mexican restaurant in front of it.

There is an outfitter in a strip mall, behind a Bojangles(?), on US220 about 1/4 mile from where the trail crosses. He assured me that hikers frequently park near the Bojangles and there has never been a problem. Bojangles is open late and frequented by the local police. My pickup was there for 10 days with no problem. Probably 8 or 10 other “hiker” cars were there at the time.

as stated above The ECONO LODGE and across the highway on 220 is the HOWARD JOHNSON (was Best Western) and they allow hikers to park there also and you don’t even have to stay there! There is also a Park and Ride parking lot beside the Exxon station on the same side as HOJOs.
Plenty of safe options in Daleville.

Both ATC and trailplace.com keep a list of AT shuttle providers. I’d look for one that originates anywhere between Waynesboro and Daleville.
