Is there anywhere near the Mammoth Mountain Inn or the Reds Meadow shuttle where I could safely leave a car for a week? We are planning on riding the YARTS bus over to Yosemite from Mammoth and hiking back to Reds. Then riding the shuttle back to Mammoth. Thanks, Darren

If you park your car at Mammoth Mountain Resort, you will need a parking tag from the resort to park behind it. A group of us parked there in July and hiked a loop up the PCT, across to the JMT and back down to Reds Meadow. Another option is park your car at Tuolumne and hike to Reds Meadow and take YARTS back your car.

I think I’ve got it figured out. We got a room at Mammoth Mountain Inn for the day we arrive. They said we could leave the car there since we were staying. The info desk at Devils Postpile also said it was ok to leave the car at the shuttle parking lot by MM Inn. Thanks for the suggestions.

At this time of the year, you could park your car anywhere in town and take the free shuttles. There is a free shuttle that goes all around mammoth lakes, and another free bus that takes you up to the ski area at mammoth mountain. There is a third free bus that goes up to red’s meadow and devil’s post-pile from there too.
