Parking at Trailhead Near Springer

#1

We’re planning a 10 day section hike in May and was wondering about leaving my car parked at Big Stamp Gap, 1 mile past Springer Mtn. We don’t want to hike the approach trail from Amicalola. The other option would be pay to park at Amicalola & hire a ride up to Springer. Would it be safe to leave my car at the Gap that long?

I assume you mean the parking lot where USFS 42 comes up Springer. I know people do leave their cars parked up there, but I’m not sure of their safety. You no doubt are going to have to pay a shuttle driver to get back to your car unless you’re using two cars, one at the end of your hike.

It’s OK to leave your car there with the 2 dozen others in the parking lot.

At the entrance to the park is a dirt/gravel road on the right . “long term” parking is a few hundred feet up that road. No charge. There is a shuttle that goes to the lot at Springer from the visiter center, I have no idea of the cost for that.
