Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a safe place to park/leave a vehicle in Buchanan, VA for about a week? My brother and I will be out section hiking 14-20 April – hiking from Buchanan, VA to Waynesboro, VA. I appreciate your help.

Peace and love,

There is a campground just a few miles from Bryant Ridge Shelter. It used to be called Yogi Bear but I think it changed names. You might give them a call.

When I thru’d I hitched into Buchanan and stayed at the Wattstul Motel. They shuttled me back to the trail the next day. Sometimes motels will let you leave your car at their site in exchange for a paid stay at the beginning. Might be worth a call.

Campground - I think the campground used to be called Jellystone (it had a large statue of Yogi). I think it is now called Wonderful Life Campground. I know they shuttle too, this might be your best bet.

Or you could leave your car at the Rockfish Gap Visitors’ Center (540)943-5187, and hike south.

Thanks everyone for your help. My plan is to park one car at Rockfish Gap (I’ve done that in the past) and park the other at a safe location in Buchcanan. Wonderful Life Campground seems like the best bet – if it’s open in April!
