PARTNER for JMT?

I’m from southern california. Want to hike the JMT over summer (preferrably sometime mid July -> August). I am quite flexible on dates, and I’d like to donate approx 20 or so days to complete the trail. I can’t get any of my friends to committ, and I’d really like to take advantage of my time off this summer.

I’m sure I’ll likely meet people on the trail; nevertheless, I’d still rather have a partner or 2 to accompany me. Could help with weight and equipment distribution and add a lil company.

Although I have no permit just yet, I dont think it would be a problem so long as we attempted to snatch the 40% of permits reserved for walk-ons.

Would anyone care to join me.

Also, if you’re from socal, feel free to join on mt san jacinto trips. good times

Brandon,
Don’t let lack of a partner stop you. You’ll either find company on the trail - or even better, discover the unique pleasures and challenges of doing it solo.

I’ll second booger’s comment. I went out solo last year in Sept, met a hiker in the BART in San Francisco who I hike with for about 1/2 the trail. i also met friends on the trail who hiked the whole thing with me. You’ll meet great people along the way, especially in the time frame you’re looking to go.

I hiked north on the JMT and I can tell you from first hand knowledge, that most JMT hikers hike south. There were days that I saw 20 to 30 hikers throughout the day. So you will have plenty of company. Just ask someone at camp or during a break about hiking with them. For the most part, hikers are very friendly and helpful. You should find a hiking partner on the JMT.
