I am planning to set-up some ‘trailmagic’ just north of the intersection of Rt. 55 and the AT this week (Wednesday, July 20). Just wondering if I am too late to catch the Wave of Northbound thru-hikers? When would Southbounders come thru this location? thanks Fred.

there are still a few northbound thru-hikers in VA with the intention of getting to Maine by October. Some may eventually have to flip-flop. There are also section hikers and short-termers out. All would appreciate your Magic.

Generally, the southbounders don’t start leaving Maine until late May or early June, with others leaving throughout the summer. The largest number of SOBOs reach northern VA between late August and mid-to-late-October. Keep in mind there are usually a lot fewer southbounders than northbounders.
