This past weekend, I provided amateur radio support for a 100 mile run on the PCT from Lake Morena to Banner Store and back. The winner’s time: 15 hours 48 minutes. I don’t think they were able to take in the sights.

That’s a decent time. They probably weren’t able to take in the sights as much as your average 3 mph hiker, but if you talk to most ultrarunners you’ll find that’s not their primary concern in an ultra event.

Any time under a 24 hour day is decent. That time is remarkable. These peeps are out of their minds. A different breed than I. I am at once impressed, humbled and grossed out by their accomplishments. In the end, get out, (HYOH) and have fun.
