Pct map - Pacific Crest Trail

Does anyone know where I could find a giant fold-out pct map? I had a big fold out one for my AT thru-hike and my family had fun following my journey with pins as I made progress on the trail. Anything like that out there for the PCT?

They have them at the forest service offices near the trail. You could look it up on line too maybe. Pretty nice maps, with mountains ranges and stuff shaded so it looks 3-d. Maybe I’ll go by the Ranger station here in Mammoth today and pick one up if they have them there, they did last spring, and send it to you. I’ll let you know if I find one.

Sorry they were out of them at the Mammoth Ranger station, and won’t get more till spring. Maybe the PCTA knows how to get this map. It’s free and the kind you get from a National Park when you enter.

I don’t know of any real equivalent to the long whole trail maps sold for the AT, which are several feet long and very large scale. As near as I can tell, no one has ever printed one, even though the USFS maps could be reproduced for the purpose. So I don’t think you’ll be able to just buy one.

The largest scale whole trail map I know of is actually the one on the PCTA website, called (appropriately enough) the
"Large Full PCT Map". It’s a 900x2325 image, which should give you a pretty large print image (I’d guess you could get it about two feet long or so) on a large format printer without losing much detail. Try the local Kinko’s or copy shop, most of them have one they can print large digital files and pics on (they’re meant for posters and other large formats.) That’s probably your best bet for getting the king of map you seem to be looking for.

Hope this helps.

Hey Manbeard, if you are referring to the fold out map the PCTA puts out I have several left. I would be more than happy to mail you one free of charge. Just shoot me a email with your mailing addy and I will get you one (or more) off pronto.
