Since Tahoe to Yosemite will probobaly be out due to snow during May/June. How is the PCT south to Yosemite. I am looking to do roughly 300 miles and trying to end at Yosemite to explore a little there. Does the PCT run through Sequoia & Kings National Park? Any Suggestions.

Kevin, The Sierras go from Kennedy Meadows in the South to around Lake Tahoe in the North. If you are still looking at May/June, there will likely be a lot of snow the entire way, possibly total coverage due to the heavy snow this year. If you come in to Yosemite from the west, Yosemite village is only around 4,500 feet and will probably be clear of snow by May. The falls are the best from late April to mid June. You can explore in that area.

If you mean how is the 300 miles of the PCT south of Yosemite… These are the highest mountains in the Sierra and will be completely covered by snow in May and probably June this year. If you would like to do a 300 mile section of the PCT in May/June, the best area would be Big Bear Lake to Walker Pass. That is about 300-400 miles. Robocop

Hey Kevin,

I walked from Yosemite to Tahoe in 08 early September. I to think that you will be doing it most of the way if not all in snow. It’s snowing as I write this in Tahoe. From TM in Yoseite to Sanora Pass is one of the most rugged and beutiful streches I ever done. I waited for the bugs to clear out before going though. Norhtern Yosemite is known for the bloodsuckers. Agood shelter and head net are needed.

How would the snow be the last couple weeks of June, Still high?

Late June has snow on the top of all the passes, sometimes still quite a bit. However, in the park it should be clear.
