Pct thru-hiking partner?

Hey there,

I’m planning on leaving to attempt the length of the PCT northbound, on April 23, 2014. I’m going to be hiking ultra-light. I don’t mind if you have a different hiking style, but after hitch-hiking across the country two years ago, I know I’d rather live minimally then carry luxurious weight on my back.

That being said, I am planning on hiking 15-21 miles a day, which if completed, would take 4 and a half months, give or take.

I have gone on long thru-hikes before and have plenty of outdoors experience, I can hold my own. I’m a 24 year old female.

I’m not super worried about finding a partner, either way I will be leaving on the 23rd of April, but if I can find a cool cat to join me, that would be great too.

You’ll find lots of cool cats and not so cool cats also leaving on 4/23. It’s a busy time out there, so don’t worry too much if you don’t find a partner in advance.

Hey EZ BREEZY,
You could check Trailjournals & Postholer to see who’s planning to start on 4/23 & then contact them. There will be TONS of hikers starting the around that time since the PCT Kickoff is scheduled for the 25th-26th. You might also find a hiking partner @ the KO if you’re planning on attending. I’m thinking about thru-hiking the PCT again this year – it’s my favorite of all the major trails. Maybe our paths will cross this summer.
Happy Trails,

Hey EZ Breezy-

I am 25 yr old female from NH. I don’t have a ton of experience on the west coast but I completed the AT in 2007. I wouldn’t describe myself as ultralight but I do try to keep my back weight low. I would be interested in starting off with someone and seeing if our styles line up.

Let me know-
