PCT vs. TTY Trail

Does anyone know wether or notthe Tahoe to Yosemite trail follows the PCT. I was hoping to do that section of the PCT but my brother wants to do the Tahoe to Yosemite trail.

I did the TYT in 01 Jalan. (I met you in 04 in the Wilderness right when I was hiking to meet Lonesome Dove?)

There are parts that are contiguous with the PCT. We went SOBO from Meeks Bay and I think the first touch of it was above the Velma Lakes and then over Dick’s Pass all the way through Desolation Wilderness past Echo Lake and the whole next day to Shower’s Lake and beyond to Carson Pass. After that it split off and we hiked into the Mokelumne Wilderness (fantastic!) to Lake Alpine, our second r/s/showers/laundry.

I don’t think we picked up the PCT again til after Kennedy Meadows (the other one, the stock one, 8 miles down Rte 108 @ Sedona Pass?) which was an excellent place to stop and stay. The PCT continues on the crest from the pass (we had approached through Clark Ford Meadow), but the TYT enters Yosemite west of the PCT in a day or two from there and then follows it almost the whole way into Toulumne.

I’m thinking this out quickly, the Winnett guide book is the only one I know of for the TYT, we used a series of FS maps. sorry for any typos.

I could give you more info, but I’m heading to Europe tomorrow for 19 days on the Haute Route!

We sent some buckets here which cost $10 a piece to pick up. But I think if you weren’t picky you could r/s here at the store, I looked around at the time and thought that and now having done the AT I realize how little you really need.

I know we bought Coleman Fuel somehow here, but I can’t remember the quantity, you’re not likely to find alcohol or HEET though. But this was 2001, in fact we were out during 9/11 just days after leaving KM around Tilden Lake, completely oblivious. Sorry I don’t remember specifics about what the store had to offer, but it was C store quality.

Great Western saloon and dining room! Laundry too and showers.
