Has anybody any idea, when the original pct around Glacier Peak is supposed to reopen (esp. bridge over Siuattle River?

I’m not sure when it will officially reopen or when a bridge will be rebuilt, but when I went through in the middle of September 2007, there was a large log across the Siuattle that you can butt scoot across (it was really big, looks stable, and is flat). The original PCT through the Glacier Peak area is not in terrible shape. There are a few real nice blowdowns, but nothing you can’t get around or over. More annoying than anything. There were definitely crews working on fixing the trail and many new bridges had been installed over some of the area’s other rivers, but I don’t know what they are planning to get done up there this year.

Hey OOO I thought I saw you splashing through the siuattle as I was scootchin my butt across that log that you seem to be such an expert about, not that either of us were in “The Forbidden Zone.”

I remember reading 2012 was the target date for the completion of the new bridges - maybe post this question on the pct-l - i’m sure you’ll get plenty of answers!

Fester, of course neither of us were in the forbidden zone, but hypothetically if one were to go into the forbidden zone, why would any fool splash through the siuattle when there is a perfectly good log to scoot across?

ooo, perhaps the same wet footed rogue with questionable decision making abilities could be found hiking multiple 50 mile days and taking over a month and a half of zeros…perhaps not any fool could be found doing such things but one such for has been witnessed and testified against (most notably in the case of The State of Reason vs Daniel Alvarez).

…when there’s a nice 50-mile roadwalk past a knife store, diner, free coffee stand, and multiple little convenience stores, ending at a nice abandoned mining village? The milkshakes at the 99er Diner are excellent, and it’s supposedly a nice and easy hitch into Leavenworth. We would have gone there, except it was leaf peeper weekend and it sounded like it was a big CF.
