I carried a 30* bag, so when it got down to around that temp, there is no way im getting out of my bag in the middle of the night to take a leak… i would be cold the rest of the night if i did. Therefore a pee bottle is a nessecity. Who’s with me…

I was wondering when somebody would get to this trail item. I was never without my pee bottle. Never got out of my bunk or bag the whole trip! Sorry guys in the hostels and shelters…your guest can hear it at night. But what a relief not to get out of your cozy bag.

:rolleyes Thats great for you guys.We women still have to crawl out of our bags to go in the sometimes freezing temps.I haven’t found a devise yet that really works for women and I’ve tried several.tattoogranny

Don’t be shy about the pee bottle. Every guy in the shelter will understand – if not now, when he’s over 40. And if the women complalin, keep in mind the months of late pregnancy when they couldn’t go more than 30 miles in a car without stopping at a gas station. An important tip: Make sure your pee bottle is a different style/shape than your water bottle. It would be unfortunate if they were to get mixed up in the darkness.

When I am in my hammock I use one if really cold. A little tricky but I’ve got it down. I would so love to use one in a shelter but haven’t gotten past the peeing in mixed company phobia.:rolleyes It is much more obvious what we are doing then you guys. HH

Common practise for Antarctic types to use water bottles by day as pee bottles at night. Everything having multiple uses. Urine is sterile and after a rinse its ready for your favorite beverage. Believe it or not.
