With much sadness Hydro and I left the trail Sept. 27th and are now back in Tucson. Both of us are completely fine, but left due to the increasing reports of foul weather forecast in the Cascades. It was a very hard decision to make, but Hydro put it very simply when she asked me, if I would hike into the Sierra Nevadas (where we live) if any snow at all was forecast. I said hell no, so that sealed are decision. As Tough Guy said when he left the trail, continuing any further would only be nescesary to please his ego. We felt the same way we hiked pretty darn far 2300 miles to Whites Pass, some Yellow Blazing some blue mostly like 2200plus official PCT so were happy, no need to sacrafice getting into serious weather to please are own egos. Best of LUck to every one out there. I hope it stays sunny and warm for everyone and the weather forecasts were wrong. But to ere on the part of safety is always the best. We will probably due the trail again next year. Since we both work at ski areas and have the summer to hike. RIght now I see the Santa Catalina Mtns. of Tucson out the window in front of me and plan to use those good PCT skills to due some multi week hikes in them before returning to Mammoth Lakes for the winter ski season. See you all on the slopes/ trails.
