Year after year someone has left a stocked cooler near Pine Creek in segment 18. I have heard several stories about him helping hikers in need also. I believe he is a former thru hiker but he must live in the area. Does anyone know who he is? thanks, apple

I believe the thru-hiker’s trail name is Burnt Foot, and he lives in Gunnison, CO. I will check with other hikers to see if they have more information, and will let you know. Thanks.

Burnt Foot had a cache just south of Rt. 114 in July 1,08 and late Sept 10. There is a report that there is a cache in this area already this year.

Thanks for all the replies. Burntfoot is indeed the elusive Pine Creek angel but he is out of the country right now so maybe there is even another Pine Creek Angel.

Yeah, I stocked the soda cooler Memorial Day weekend. I’m visiting my wife’s family in the Philippines now, but hopefully left enough sodas in there for hikers until the last part of June.
