I’ve read a few older books about the AT, and have noticed a section of trail called ‘Pinnacles of the Dan’ Earl Schaffer hiked through there, and actually drew a picture of them on the poem he wrote (which wound up becoming the title of Walking with Spring).
Anyway, it’s obvious this is no longer on the current AT route (and hasn’t for several decades-not even Ray Baker hiked it). Where exactly are the Pinnacles of the Dan, and more importantly, is there still a trail through this area, even though its not the AT? Or was it developed or over forested or . . . or what?
