Place to stay in Waynesboro

Hi all,
I will be hiking SOBO from Harper’s Ferry to Waynesboro and am looking for a place to stay in W’boro at the end of the trip. Does anybody know a place that’s cheap and not too far from the trail?

When I section-hiked two years ago all the motels I stayed at in Virginia were in the $40-50 range but I can’t seem to find anything under $65 on hotel websites.

Thanks

there’s always the good ol’ YMC and A!(you can get a shower there and pig out at the AYCE chinese restaurant!)…wherever you stay, the folks will treat you great!..that’s the most hospitable trail town we experienced, hands down…when you come out of the woods at rockfish gap, just head over to the visitors center and they’ll bend over backwards to help you get rides or whatever else you need…there’s a motel we stayed at on up a little past town that was very reasonable and (i think) gave us a hiker discount (it sometimes pays to just ask)…have fun on your hike…

Stay at the Ymca because the Quality Inn is under new management. The price was jacked up from $40 to $70 and that was before taxes were added in. Plus a resident of town was paying for the showers at the Ymca. I would also suggest eating at Chickpeas which is on Main ave.

I live in Waynesboro and am on of the Trail Angels there. The above suggestions are good ones. I knew the Quality Inn was under new management but was unaware that the rates were so much. Might just be worth a call to ask again and be sure to tell them you are hiking and ask about a special rate. A lot of thru hikers are staying there this season, as always. Weekends are busy now though with college graduations and all so call ahead if you can. Rates may be up for that reason.
Also worth a try is Tree Streets Inn. It’s a B&B close to the center of town and they have a special hiker rate and a sweet little room on the top floor called The Birds Nest that they rent to hikers. 540-949-4484

Maw-ee, thanks for all the nice compliments about our town. I’ll forward to those who should hear it!

Pam Bennett would know but in 2005 the church hostel was great and the people there were great.

What a great trail town. I stayed at the church hostel in 2005 as well. I had a real bad case of poision ivy and they could not do enough for me. They were fantastic.
