My Composer has completed one PCT hike and three CDT hikes!!! I loaned it to d-low and Mags for their CDT hikes, and it will be back on the PCT again in 2007.

I used a Pocketmail on the FT then the AT and found it worked well once you got used to it. It weighted 9.5 oz with batteries. Only use the Lithium by the way. The best feature is the address book. I saved lots of info and many of hte class of 2006 have contacted me to get the info they had written down, lost, melted fromt he record rains, etc. You have to send your emailed journal to a friend who can then upload it to trailjournals for you.

I have used my pocketmail for the last 4 years, but this summer I’ll probebly end my subscription. Last summer the gadget suddenly turned out to be totaly unreliable, recieving HUGE amounts of spam, which its inadequeate spam gaurd could only partly filter (and it also filterd out some letters I did want). Even without the spam problem, it often didn’t download letters in the inbox and didnt. I realized I can never know if a letter I sent was ever recieved and I no longer trust my pocketmail.
