Portland hikers?

Hey all,

I’m moving to Portland OR this weekend and am wondering if there are many hikers in the area…would anyone be interested in meeting up for a drink or a hike? Anyone with experience on the PCT would be great as I hope to hike it soon.

Thanks,

She-Ra,

Welcome to Portland! I just transplanted here myself two months ago. There are many hikers here, many places to drink, and many places to hike. Kinda like heaven. Feel free to email me.

Old school thru hiker here - did it in 1977. Grew up here, did many, many hikes in my youth in the Columbia River Gorge - and there are still a few I haven’t done. A great hike is never more than a 60-90 minute drive away; and a brew pub generally less than 5 minutes.

Make your first stop a Barnes & Nobles bookstore & check out all the “local” books - hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, biking around the Northwest. Many good Falcon Guides, Sullivan & others’ books covering all the Oregon & Wash Wilderness areas. Local to PDX is Forest Park - 40 miles of trail along the “Wildwood” trail plus many side trails – right in the middle of Portland! close by you have your choice: Gorge waterfalls & vistas, coast range, Mt. Hood area, cental oregon high desert. I have an acquaintance who just finished SOBO on the PCT and two friends of a hiking buddy who did the PCT NOBO a couple of years ago. Brew pubs and wineries are plentiful. Feel free to write me.

I know quite a few hikers from PCT 03 who even were trailangels this year. Mail me if you want their address. They are a fun bunch.
