I am looking to hike the trail in march of 2011 and would be interested in some helpful hints regarding drops, trail navigation and water. I have been on the Arizona trail website and that has provided very good information. I also would be interested in anyone that would like to hike the trail as well, either all the way or even part way.

On my hike in spring 2009, the water was better than I expected. Everything with 1 or better on the Water Sources list was good. There were a few snow melts on north facing slopes but not that you can count on. The only water cache I used was at Freeman Road.
The trail was easy to follow except it doesn’t match the maps that well. It’s like the maps are someones theoretical idea of where a trail should go but the actual trail had to fit reality.
I bought all my food in towns along the way. Roosevelt Lake marina was mostly junk food but I easily bought enoough bulk and calories.
