Pre-hike dinner in Boston?

imported
#1

i was wondering if any of the hikers in the Boston area would like to meet sometime before March and have a little prehike dinner. Might be fun to talk to people that REALLY understand our fears and excitement about the up coming hike. I don’t leave until April 1, but I know a lot of you are going earlier.
If not, see you on the Trail and good luck class of '05!

I would love anyone from the Trail community to come. I would love to just talk with some people that feel excited and passionate about the Trail, that aren’t going to ask me if I’m going to bring a gun or hunt for my food. Please let me know when and where would be good for you guys. Hopefully more folks will respond!
Thanks,
Chad

Im only available in the evenings. Does everyone know where the REI in The Fenway area is? There is a great steakhose called LONGHORNs in the same building. Awesome bar.

There are several of us from the class of '03 in the area. Let me know if you settle on a time and place…I can pass the word on.

I’d be in if we do it before my start date, Feb. 25th. Longhorn has good food. Friends and I gathered there for a going away thing once. The downside was that even though we had reservations and waited two hours at that awesome bar, they couldn’t sit a large crowd together. It was a busy weekend night. We might be a smaller group. Chad (or someone) should pick a date and time and put it out.

Big Stick, you live in ARLINGTON?! Me too. I would love to meet all these adventurers in the Boston area.

Chad, since you started the post, why don’t you suggest a few times and/or places.

Sounds like it would be a GREAT time. For myself and Lighting a night time our weekend would be better. We work in the day and would be coming up from the Cape. You name it Chad.

Chad, sounds like fun and if you plan it before March 4 and after 2/13 you can count me in. I live in NH but can stay with my daughter in Winthrop for the night. You might put a message out on Whiteblaze too after you decide on date and location. Maybe you will get a bigger group. I hope to start my hike around 3 8 or 9; depends on reservations.

Wow! What a response! I got a few emails too from people with thier schedules so I guess from all the info I have gathered Feb. 18th looks like the best night everyone could get together. Chef suggested Longhorns which sounds cool to me. I suppose I should make a reservation. If you all could email me so I can get a firm count that would be cool. The email is bobba_motte@yahoo.com. I’ll probably make the res. for 6:30 or 7. Obviously I 'll post the time for everyone! Thanks again for the great response!

I think meeting a few prospective fellow thru-hikers prior to commencing is a great idea. I wish I could be there to celebrate your upcoming hike, however I will be there in spirit.
