Prettiest Section Hike

My Venturing Crew (Co-Ed Boy Scouts) might be joining me for a couple of sections during some part of the first half of the trail.

Which sections did you find you enjoyed the most? I want to challenge them and show them fantastic views, but I don’t want to scare them off backpacking by taking them up one of the brutal climbs.

The lost creek wilderness to Kenosha Pass is a great hike. Wonderful views and easy to be dropped off at one end and picked up at the other.

I enjoyed hiking along the Virginia Creeper Trail and eventually heading up Mt. Rogers (there’s a side trail to the top)and then into the Highland Grayson area with the wild ponies. The hike up Mt. Rogers might be a little stenuous but if your group takes it slow they should be ok.

Virginia Creeper? That’s a long ways from Colorado.

Bet my crew would have loved seeing the wild ponies…they’ll have to make due with sheep and cowboys.
