Question About a Photo

During my section hike this year I took a picture that is located at the link below. It was taken on May 5, somewhere between Watauga Lake Shelter and Iron Mountain Shelter. I found another hiker’s picture of the same location (I think) and he had titled the picture “the ridge of dreams”. Some people at my office follow my hikes pretty closely and read my journals each year and look at all my pictures here on trailjournals. Several have downloaded the picture I am asking about and used it as the background picture on their computer screen in the office. They have asked me for more information about the picture. So, does anyone know EXACTLY where this part of the trail is located? Does this part of the trail have a “name” like some sections do? (like “the ridge of dreams”) It is not a great photo, photography-wise, but they seem to like it and are asking me to provide more info if I can find it. Any help appreciated. Please copy and paste the link and let me know here or by email if you can help. Thanks. CBiscuit

We (my wife and I) have been section hiking the AT also. We took a similar picture (maybe the same place) when we crossed the Iron Mountains, just north of Watauga Dam, heading towards Damascus. Someone at Kincorra Hostel called this section “Fairy Tale Trail”. It is the kind of trail everyone dreams about hiking when they think of taking on the AT. I remember it being long and easy as we crossed that ridge. We scared many bears out of trees in those two days we took to cross this area. I think it was before the Nick Grindstaf memorial (did I spell that right?).
