Question about Muscle Injury

imported
#1

Two months after getting off the trail, I still have a spot on my calf muscle that is hard and painful. It is on the inside right side of my right calf about 4" below the knee. I thought that gentle stretching, heat and massage would take care of it, but it simply isn’t healing.

I am wondering if I may have torn the muscle from the bone somehow. Does anyone know anything about this kind of injury?

you really should go see a doctor. Sounds like it is torn.

Thanks for the response. I am one of those who avoids going to the doctor whenever possible, but I guess I need help with this one.

If you can access a Physical Therapist you may find some very good advice available. They are the ones that doctors refer patients to when muscles are damaged and in need of rehabilitation or therapy.

If the bruise is affecting other parts of your leg such as ankle, foot, toes, etc., then a Neurologist (M.D.) may be required. Then a doctor’s referral may be necessary in terms of insurance.

Jack, I had not thought of a physical therapist. That may be the way to go.

The painful area isn’t that noticeable until I stretch my achilles tendon, then it gets painful quickly and stays that way. But it is too far to the side and too high to be the achilles tendon, so it is obviously a muscle.

Thanks for the direction.
