Hey,
Im wanting to head to max patch for a day hike/overnighter and was wondering what was the easiest place to access it? thanks

Exit #7 off I-40 in NC. Follow the signs.

You can stay in Hot Springs, NC; then get the people at Bluff Mountain Outfitters to take you up to Max Patch. The hike back into Hot Springs is roughly 20 miles. Great hiking, PaPa Larry

Agree with PaPa about shuttle and hike down to Hot Springs. Max Patch is my fav spot on the AT. Spend some time there, hike N to the new shelter (mind is blank at the moment for the name), spend the night there, then enjoy your stroll into Hot Springs. Little diner as you get into town has offered shuttles in the past if Bluff Mtn can’t.

Is the new shelter 'Roaring Fork"?
Follow the signs off of I-40. Parking lot at the base of the hill, lots to explore there. Starry night, is awesome!
