RE AZT Data Book

Hey this is EL MONSTRO of AZT SPEED RECORD fame. I made a data book for the AZT which I make no claims to its accuracy (in fact I know some of the mileage is off). I have been getting requests for it so I thought I would be proactive and tell you all where to locate it. It is at web.mac.com/hike4trails on the links page at the bottom. You can click on the links and print them up. If you have any updates please email me and I would be more than happy to update it this fall.

How would you have such time to gather information enough to complete a data book while hiking so fast?

But upon examination it seems your shamelessly self promoted “speed record” probably was little more than 20 mile days.

Hello Fletcher,
To answer your first question I did the data book before my hike.

Your math is incorrect on the averages, here is a blurb from the recent AZTA newsletter this month:

Fast Through-hiker –Adam Bradley, of Reno, Nevada, started hiking the AZT on
April 8 this year and according to Adam, “actually walked every step of the way
from Sonora to Utah” before finally finishing on May 7.
That’s a marathon average
of 26 miles per day for 31 days ……. but who’s counting?

Of course I had no idea this was being written so so much for shamelessly self promoting a record I broke of 35 days.

The true average was 27 miles a day for a record of 30 days 7.5 hrs. Because I keep track.
