Recharging digital camera

So how have all you thru-hikers who have digital cameras managed to recharge your cameras while on the AT? I’m taking an extra battery and considering bouncing my recharger ahead, or perhaps sending it home after recharging and having them send it back in a month or so. How long have people found their cameras to hold a charge; how many photos can you take on one battery? Also, what do you do once you’ve taken photos? Send the disc home, get a CD made at photo store and send it home, or what? Thanks for the ideas, Annie K.

Some cameras last longer than others. Big Hint: If you keep the LCD display turned off it will last MUCH longer. I have a Canon Elph S400 that I use on the trail for up to two weeks at a time, shooting about 225 pictures before having to switch to a spare rechargable battery.
Experiment with your own camera before you go; if you can make it over a week without recharge that’s probably OK. Even if you don’t, it’s not the end of the world, use the old brain cells to remember the views.
