I was in Muir hut two days ago. I met two guys who said they were biologists. They said they were removing all trout from the high sierra to restore reg legged frog habitat. Does anyone know more about this?

When I was hiking in the area in 2004, I saw a fishing line with about five separate hook lines spanning a creek. I thought it was kind of odd and mentioned it to a ranger at the next station (below guitar lake)thinking it was some kind of illegal fishing.
He told e the same story: that they were removing non-native trout to restore frogs to the area.
