I keep meaning to ask, what is the best reference source for the AT? I’ve heard people talk about the Thru Hikers Handbook, but I don’t know what else is out there.

If you are looking for a reference book on prepairing for a thru-hike The Thru-Hiker’s Planning Guide, by Dan Bruce is good.
I used the info. in his book to prepair for my thru and felt that I was well prepaired.

The AT Companion is another town guide for long distance hiking. Like the Thru Hikers Handbook it has plenty of useful info about people, places and things on and off the trail.
