Has anyone ever repelled down mt katahdin after they were done with the trail?

I bet a lot of hikers have “repelled” on Mt. Katahdin, if it’s been a while since they saw a bar of soap. I repel all the time on the trail, even going uphill. I repel when I sleep, when I eat, when I sit by the campfire…in fact, maybe I should change my trailname to “Repel.” Or maybe “SmartA**.” :happy

There is a rock climb or two on the cliffs of Mt. Katahdin. I would imagine that several of the climbers have rappeled off of the cliffs. I believe that there is some great ice in the winter also.

The Chimney Trail is steep and technical, though I never tried it. Think you need clearance from the Baxter authorities, to show you have the training and the gear. They’re not too keen on evacuating injured visitors. Good luck.
