Restaurants along the CT

For some reason, that $10 for any size pizza Pizza Hut TV promo has gotten me to dream about the town food along the CT hike. I actually checked to see where there are Pizza Huts on the hike. LOL. OK, there has to be killer pizza joints along the CT in the bigger towns. What are the favorite spots for food along the CT? Shamelessly, I want to treat myself to food I can not eat when back in my suburban non-hiker mode due to weight adding up around the waist.

Good luck. The CT is not exactly a urban experience. If you are willing to hitch hike a lot you might be able to do it. You can get decent bbq at Jefferson and pizza at Frisco, Copper Mountain, Leadville, Buena Vista, Salida, maybe Creede, maybe Silverton. Except for Frisco (free bus), and Copper Mtn.(which is almost on the trail), these towns are all a considerable distance away from the trail. Plenty to eat in Durango when you get there, though. I wouldn’t worry too much about your waist - you’ll be skinny when you finish.

J,

I remember a lot of great good places along the trail. Specifically, I had a huge calzone thing in Breckenridge, pigged out at the leadville hostel (definitely stay there), ate lots at Buena Vista and Silverton, and bought a ton of food at Salida.

Bottom line…every town has lots 'o options, so your appetite should be satiated quite nicely. The only town stop that had limited options for me was Twin Lakes.

…if you’re willing to hitch like bearcreek said that is.

Thanks folks. The town food will be tertiary vs. the actual hike perseverance and my well-being otherwise. I was thinking that an all-you-can-eat Chinese food place might be nice to find too. Yeah, good luck on that for me.

I wonder if all that food would be considered that great if we weren’t on the trail… I mean you go a week feeling half-starved and anything you eat is going to taste fit for a King!! :happy
