I am planning a section hike from pearisburg to daleville(220). I think the only possible resupply/shower stop about midway is at VA 624 according to the guidebooks. Anyone know more specifics of resupply there? Anyone been to the hostel there?

you’ve got a couple options. When you get to 624 there is a store to the left (if going North) .3 miles. If you go .3 right on the road you reach 4 pines Hostel. You can send a maildrop there if need be. Also there is a store a mile off the Trail at rt 311 in Catawba, but if you are staying at the hostel, you could easily be driven to both there and Homeplace. If you are there on a thurs, fri, sat or sunday, DO eat at the homeplace, trust me.

I was there last year after a treacherous day on Dragon’s Tooth. The hostel is clean, with mats to sleep on, showers, and a very nice owner. Yes, he had a problem last year with a drunken hiker… That is all resolved and this is a good place to stay.

I remember the little market just to the left. We resupplied there and were planning to hike another 10 miles or so. Ate about 4 hotdogs and some icecream and took a nap on the concrete slab just beside the market. Ended up staying at the Hostel. Nice place. They had two guitars, so… we got to do some pickin’ and grinin’. Good time at 4 Pines.

My wife and I had a great time at the 4 Pines hostel during our thru hike last year. He even offered to bring us to the store or the AYCE diner around…works on donation.

Thanks for the replies. I found the email for the hostel and have contacted them. It seems they are open and should be no problem getting sleep/shower/resupply and moving on up the trail!.
