Resupply - The Colorado Trail

I am planning on thru hiking the colorado trail and have some resupply questions. Where do you resupply inbetween salida and creede ? Seems to be almost 90 miles of trail! This will be my first thru hike of any kind. For an inexperienced hiker, how many days will this stretch take me? How many days of food will I need leaving salida?

I don’t have reference material with me so I don’t know which Segments we’re looking at, but my guess is that by Salida you’ll easily be averaging at least 15 miles a day so it’ll take you 6 days to cover 90 miles. Completely do-able without resupply.

Right, I did the trail last year, Its about 105 miles from Hwy 50 to Hwy 149( the road that goes between Creede and Lake city). If you can do 15 miles per day, it’ll take 7 days. I think most people do more miles in this long stretch, some of it is fairly level open country. When I did the trail I took a full rest day in Salida so I had no trouble getting to Hwy 149 in less than 6 days. I heard that some people make a food cache about halfway between Salida and Creede-where the trail crosses hwy114, that may be an option- or have somebody meet you there if you can work out the logistics.

Thanks. Great info all around. I live in Kansas City currently so the food cache isn’t an option. I guess its just one of those things i will just have to power through.
